Repairing Electric Fence To Protect Chickens From Predators

My solar powered electric fence controller had stopped working a while ago and I lost a chicken from the main chicken run to a raccoon. All I found were some feathers left behind where my chicken had been.

I had picked up some ground rods to improve the ground of my electric fence.

When Tim and I were cutting down trees, one of the trees also damaged the front of the chicken range and the electric fence.

I spent some time rewiring the entire electric fence. I went around the entire perimeter as well and tightened up the loose wires as needed. I had a bunch of debris and weeds touching the fence wire in places too.

I used a stake pounder and drive the grounding rods into the ground. I used two of them. This should improve the electric fence ground nicely.

After wiring up the electric fence and repairing as needed I brought out the electric fence tester. It tested positive. The fence is back online again.

After that was finished I wanted to run some electric fence around the chicken tractor to better protect the Bantams from raccoons.

But the nails were not entering the hard wood of the pallet frame used to build the chicken tractor.

I will have to come up with a better idea because I was running out of light.
