Building A Tiny Chicken House On Wheels Part II

After framing in my free pallet wood tiny chicken house on wheels, the next step is to make it weather proof. I am going to treat my chickens the same as I would treat myself. They get tar paper and siding on their tiny home.

This is a chicken coop for my tiny Bantams so it is smaller than normal. I am using all free pallet wood to build this little chicken tractor.

Actually this is not small when compared to some I have seen for sale commercially. TSC sells some chicken coops that are smaller than this one.

Mine is about 4 feet wide by 6 feet long by 4 feet high and will house a few of my little Bantam chickens. I have 3.5 nesting boxes for the hens to lay eggs and raise chicks.

There is a fully covered upstairs with half of it being a winter house and the other half is a summer deck. Both are weather proofed.

I used more of my free pallet wood to build nesting boxes for the hens. This was very simple and used scraps of wood left over from my work.

I used two lawn mower pallets and two standard pallets in the construction of this tiny chicken house on wheels.

More scrap lawn mower pallet wood was used to close in the house wall and make a doorway for the chickens to enter through. This was some OSB scrap that was used to protect the lawn mowers during transportation and it is perfectly clean and new. Only used once.

The tar paper extends over the end of the deck which will keep the wind from driving rain inside the deck and onto my wood floor.

I got the tar paper installed and just about done when it got too late to work and it was time to clean up for the day. Rain was coming and I had to put my tools away.

I hope to finish this project when the rain stops - a few days maybe if the weather man is correct.
