Rain On My Tiny Home And Framing In The Wheel Well
Thursday it rained on my tiny house on wheels but no water got inside. This is a huge relief. I spent quite a bit of time framing the wheel well to seal it off from water and insulate it from the cold.
Wednesday night it rained quite hard which caused me to lose a lot of sleep. I was worried about my tiny house because it was not fully sealed off from the elements yet. I still had the door and front windows wide open.
But when I checked it out in the morning, the tiny home was dry inside. The roof and sheathing did their jobs and kept my tiny home dry and safe inside.
The rain came from the side so it never entered the wide open front door either.
In the morning I went to harbor freight to return some defective items and get some money back. I took that over to home depot to get some materials to seal off my tiny house sheathing. I have to wait for it to stop raining though before I can put it on.
My neighbor sold me about 300 feet of 4 strand 14 gauge wire which I will use to wire up my tiny house solar power system, lights and accessories. This was a very good deal because this wire costs hundreds of dollars normally. I can double up the strands and double up the current handling capacity of the wire.
I am going to run the wiring in my tiny home inside the home. I will not drill holes in the wall studs and I want to seal off the walls fully from the outside to block out wind and insects from entering my home.
I received a package from Patriot Prepper from YouTube which contained a Ryobi impact driver and a bit set. This is an awesome gift which will save me a lot of work and pain. Thank you very much!
I sealed off the wheel well framing with a piece of salvaged OSB I got for free from the pallet haul a few weeks back. Using scrap pallet wood I framed it in and dropped in the OSB. Then I glued and nailed it into place.
On top of that I stapled in some aluminum flashing to keep out water, mice and insects.
