Installing My Tiny House Door And Sealing Gaps In Sheathing

Tuesday we installed the door in my tiny house and worked on sealing up the gaps in the house sheathing.

I spent the morning hours cutting tar tape and applying it along the seams in the tiny home sheathing. I also put in screws and nails where we had put in the blocking behind the sheathing seams the other day.

This took me the better part of the day until John arrived to help out a bit.

When John got here we started right in with the door installation.

I cut the door and the door frame down by 2 inches so the door would open and fit underneath the loft frame. Before cutting it would not open at all.

Then John and I attached it with a few screws on top and tried out the door for fit. Everything fit nicely and the door opened and closed.

Then John and I put in some ceder shims along the sides of the door frame. At each set of shims we predrilled a hole and put in a screw which was counter sunk into the door frame nicely.

John demonstrated his special too for drilling and counter sinking a screw.

It is good to have a door on my tiny house on wheels. Now it is starting to look like a home.
