Framing My Tiny House Rafters And Mounting Sheathing

Monday I was alone but got a lot done on the tiny home. I framed in the roof and and got some more sheathing on my tiny house on wheels.

John was not coming so I worked on the rafters. This is something I could do alone and it had to be done right away so we could put the roof on Tuesday when John comes back.

I cut the birds mouths on the rafters using a circular saw and a reciprocating saw. I used one board that we had cut on Saturday to trace out the proper angles on each rafter and then first pre cut them with a circular saw. Then I neatly cut out the rest with the reciprocating saw.

The rafters fit snugly in place with no wobble. The birdsmouths are perfect.

I used rafter ties to attach the rafters to the top of the tiny house walls. I also used two screws per end of each rafter. This gave me 18 nails and 4 screws holding on each rafter. They should be strong enough.

When I had the rafters on my little home I started to cut and attach a few pieces of plywood on the outside of the house. The sheathing is heavy and hard to work with alone but I managed and some some more boards up on the walls.

The sheathing is stiffening up the tiny home and there is less shake with each board we put on.

It was late in the evening when I finally quit for the night. I got a lot done this day.
