The emperor was furious with the attitude of Saint Theodore and ordered him arrested. In prison, he suffered cruel tortures and was later crucified. He spent a night on the cross. The next morning, the soldiers found him alive, off the cross and unharmed. Some converted because of it. Saint Theodore, however, made a point of going to the emperor in the hope that he, knowing of such a great miracle, would desist from persecution against Christians. But the emperor, on the contrary, ordered him to be beheaded. It is known that his death happened on the 8th of February in the year 319 AD. Around noon.
