Finished Cutting And Placing Floor Boards In My Tiny House

Thursday afternoon I finished fitting the floor boards of my tiny home on wheels. Everything is fitted and laid in place waiting for the final screws and glue to hold it all together.

I worked until late in the evening trying to finish cutting all of my floor boards. I wanted to see how it all fits together and get everything in place. I also wanted to dry fit the boards this time to ensure they do all fit together properly. If you remember last time I was fighting with a single pair of boards for well over an hour because they would not fit together.

I thought that something was not square with my trailer or house floor framing because the tongue and groove boards do not line up properly. Then someone told me that 4x8 sheets of plywood are not always perfectly square. With tongue and groove you may not always get a perfect fit as well.

I learned another thing about tongue and groove today. They are actually 47.5 inches wide when you take out the groove and fit two boards together. This means that my whole floor will be a total of an inch short when it is all fitted together. It is not horrible because it will only be a half inch on each side but it is still annoying.

Cutting and fitting around the wheel well took the longest because I had to fit the boards properly while leaving room for the wheel well framing. This meant a couple cuts per board on a total of four boards.

But when the job was done my tiny house floor looked very nice. It feels good to sit back and look at the results of a good day of work.
