What is Asperger’s syndrome? This is everything YOU need to know about the condition.

Ok so let’s be frank first off, Asperger’s Syndrome is now referred to as Autism spectrum disorder.

Autism used to be split off into several naming conventions like high functioning autism, low functioning autism, classic autism... you get the picture.

But this all changed in 2013 to give everything the umbrella term Autism Spectrum Disorder.

So what is Asperger’s Syndrome? It is an autism spectrum diagnosis that is characterised by a few common personality traits, and has lower support needs on the spectrum of autism.

Here are 4 ways you can identify a personality trait of autism in a person on the autism spectrum.

1.Lack Of Eye Contact
Autistic people will have issues with making and maintaining eye contact.

2.Talking Constantly
As Autistc people will have an obsessive interest in a certain topic, they will want to talk about it not stop. And sometimes you won’t be able to stop them talking about their interest.

3.Social Skills Issues
Socialising and unwritten social rules are very much a miss with autistic people and this shows in their lack of social skills and social understanding.

4.Not Understanding Jokes
As autistic people take everything very literal, jokes and sarcasm will be lost on them.
