After Jesus had rose from the dead, the last thing He said before ascending into heaven was, "go, therefore and make disciples of all the nations...teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you" Matthew 28:19-20. "You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses to Me...to the end of the earth" Acts 1:8.
