China Warns U.S. If You Don't Hit The Brakes You Will Risk Confrontation

On Tuesday, the Chinese foreign minister defended Beijing's position on the turmoil in Ukraine and defended Beijing's close connections with Russia, warning that the United States must adjust its "distorted" approach towards China or "conflict and confrontation" will follow.

At a news conference on the margins of China's annual parliament meeting in Beijing, Foreign Minister Qin Gang said the United States had been suppressing and containing China rather than engaging in fair, rule-based competition.

Former Chinese Ambassador to the United States Qin remarked, "The United States' perspective and views of China are gravely distorted." Qin is a valued assistant to President Xi Jinping.

"To them, China represents the greatest geopolitical threat and greatest threat to their national security. This is the equivalent of putting on a shirt with the first button undone."
