Local Game Hunting: Rare Games! Handhelds! Sega On Nintendo!

While I do take advantage of services like Video Games Monthly and I will purchase online from time to time, I'm very lucky to have one of the best retro gaming stores in the Midwest near where I live in Live Action Games. They offer great products at fair prices, and I recently needed to stop off to pick up something they posted from a recent purchase. While I was there I needed to check out some of the other things that may be coming home with me in the future.

When it comes to some of the more rare NES games, DuckTales 2 and the Jetsons are always highly sought after, and Adrian had copies of both. These look to be in fantastic shape and fairly priced. I'm not the biggest fan of DuckTales 2 compared to the original, but I don't know that I've ever seen these two titles in the same place at the same time before.

If you like handhelds, specifically the Game and Watch, he just got several of them in on trade. Three of them have reproduction boxes, one of them was loose, but all four were in fantastic shape. He also had something that I will probably come back for it a later point in time, a Famicom edition Game Boy Micro. He turned it on for me, I have never seen one of these working before, and man this thing is cool.

They also had a number of rare retro systems available. While I have a TurboGrafx 16, I do not have the Turbo CD. There was one of those in the store with the case! There was also a JVC X'EYE, a variant of the Sega Genesis and Sega CD incorporated into one system. This is something I have had one of for quite some time, and I always make fun of Jay from @Square PEgs and Kris from @GameDadShow for not having one

The main thing I headed to the store for was to pick up a copy of Altered Beast for the Famicom. That's right, Altered Beast, one of the launch titles for the Sega Genesis, is also available on the Nintendo Famicom. That's how much of a stranglehold Nintendo had over the Japanese market back in the day. It'll be interesting to see how bad this is, but we are looking forward to trying it out.
