Ukrainian troops continue to retreat from Artyomovsk or Bakhmut, but doing so every day is becoming more dangerous.

All major roads with a good asphalt surface, along which it was possible to withdraw equipment, are shot through by the artillery of the Wagner PMC and controlled by Russian aviation.

Numerous territorial defense brigades and mechanized formations of the Ukrainian forces are left to use small country roads, which have been washed out since the beginning of the retreat and can only be used for a few hours a day when the temperature drops below zero.

It is almost impossible to use tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and any other military vehicles on such trails, so Ukrainian units are actively transferring to pickup trucks, and civil small cars are adapted for towing mortars and trailers with ammunition and equipment.

Nothing larger than a mortar and heavier than a couple of boxes can not be taken out of Artyomovsk.
