Dr. Tony Costa: "The Eastern Orthodox Church claims to be the ancient church that is traced back to the New Testament church. It claims to be the church of the original apostles and the Church Fathers that has continued to this day. It also claims that the Roman Catholic and Protestant churches are apostate forms of Christianity that need to return to Eastern Orthodoxy. It makes claims that icons of Jesus, Mary, and the saints are to be venerated with affection, and that salvation is only to be found in the Eastern Orthodox Church. We will examine these claims through a biblical analysis and learn to engage with people in the Eastern Orthodox Church with a sound biblical gospel witness."
