When asked how this collaboration with Selena came about, Rema revealed that it arose naturally out of the two stars’ friendship as opposed to a business deal of some sort. From there came one career highlight after the next – starting with Rema’s placement with two spots on the soundtrack to “Black Panther Wakanda Forever” and moving onto sold-out shows at London’s Brixton Academy. Then, in February of 2023, Rema was not only awarded the Digital Artist of the Year award at the Sound City MVP Awards in Lagos, he was also hand-picked to appear on stage next to Tems and Burna Boy as the half-time show during the NBA All-Star game. With his profile larger now than ever – the only thing that Rema wants is for his music to help him make up for lost time. By that I mean, he wants to live a carefree life that’ll make up for the pressures he dealt with in his past.
