It was during one of these intimate performances that he caught the eye of actor Ben Stiller, which led to Andy being offered a spot on the short-lived sketch series “The Ben Stiller Show”. Despite being heralded as one of the best sketch-series of all time, the show only lasted one season. From there, Andy would move onto the NBC hit “NewsRadio” in 1995, in which he played reporter Matthew Brock -- a character whose probably best described as “clueless”, but even that would be an understatement. The original “NewsRadio” cast included the late, great Phil Hartman, playing the blow-hard Bill McNeal. Off-camera, Phil took Andy under his wing and Dick explained how much this relationship meant to him while speaking with the Chicago Tribune: “Phil was like a father to me... he was the reason that I took my part in the show. I respected him. I thought he was so funny. Wherever I had a problem, he helped me. I felt blessed that I knew him. I still think of him, and I talk to him when I pray and meditate.
