In fact, martial-arts took on such a prominent role in these later years that in 2006, at the age of thirty-three, Frank made the decision to go pro in MMA and began developing his ground-game by training with UFC lightweight contender “The Young Assassin” Melvin Guillard. When Frank later announced his intentions to debut as professional fighter with SuckerPunch Entertainment, he was met with mixed-reactions to say the least. Maggie Hendricks of Yahoo.com’s “Cagewriter” would even go so far as to suggest that Frank was simply using MMA as a publicity stunt to build his name back up after a direct-to-video movie he had starred in titled “The Junior Defenders” flopped hard. And when Frank eventually made his mixed-martial-arts debut in 2010 at the U.S. Amateur’s Combat Association’s first-ever “Lonestar Beatdown” in Houston, Texas – he proved all his doubters wrong by submitting MMA fighter Jonathon “the Mack Truck” Mack in the very first round. About a month later, Frank would win his second-fight by TKO. He’d win his next two amateur fights as well – every single one of them in the first round – and then, on August 4th, 2010, Frank made his professional debut, taking on Jose Roberto Vasquez. He’d win the match in just 45-seconds with the help of a rear-naked-choke submission.
