Illumination Studios and Universal Pictures in partnership with NINTENDO are sitting on a cinematic gold mine set to open on April 5th 2023. With the exception of the Japanese and Korean markets, Super Mario Bros. will enjoy a nearly unified global box office release.

Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anna Taylor Joy, and Jack Black have teamed up to bring to life one of the greatest video game sagas of the last 40 years. And it's not just the box office and subsequent money trail with Netflix for this film, it's a massive merchandising juggernaut that will probably pull another billion at the retail level with toys and related licensing.

In other words, the Walt Disney Company is about to formally lose their crown as the Animation franchise monarch, after a strong of theatrical failures in the past year. Universal is KING. Minions Rise of Gru, Puss N Boots The Last Wish and now the Nintendo franchise launching with Super Mario Bros means that Universal Studios in the Distributor to beat. Disney is now chasing their dust.
