NCL Pride of America, Hawaii Day11, North Shore Part I: Byodo-In Temple, China Man's Hat & Marathon

We were up early watching the #honolulu #marathon from our balcony at the #waikikibeach #marriott Resort & Spa. When the sun finally rose, we got ready and headed to our #rentalcar for a fun day on the #northshore of #oahu!

Our first stop for some malasada's and coffee was at Leonard's Bakery! What's a malasada? A malasada is a Portugese doughnut without a hole. We picked up three malasada's; an original, a cinnamon, and a li hing. The cinnamon was our favorite!

Our next stop was the Byodo-In Temple!
The Byodo-In Temple is located at the foot of the Ko'olau Mountains in Valley of the Temples Memorial Park. It was established on June 7, 1968, to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii. The Byodo-In Temple in O'ahu is a smaller-scale replica of the over 950-year-old Byodo-in Temple, a United Nations World Heritage Site in Uji, Japan. The Byodo-In Temple is a non-practicing Buddhist temple which welcomes people of all faiths to worship, meditate or simply appreciate its beauty.

The Temple Grounds are open 8:30am - 4:30pm daily. Last entrance to Temple Grounds is 4:15pm. Admission to the Byodo-In Temple grounds is General Admission $5.00 (ages 13-64), $4.00 Seniors (age 65 & up), $2.00 Children (2-12 years).

After viewing the beautiful temple and grounds we headed further north to Kualoa Park to view China Man's Hat.

Kualoa Regional Park is located at Kāneʻohe Bay, on the island of Oahu in the U.S. state of Hawaii. The park covers 153 acres across the road from the Pali-ku (cliffs) of the Koʻolau Range. The beach front is white sand and 1/3 mile offshore is the small basalt island of Mokoliʻi (or Chinaman's Hat).
