"Alpha Males", Mate Selection, and Related Issues

Some people say that men primarily consist of a pronounced and rigid hierarchy, with "Alpha" (naturally dominant) males at the top which women prefer. Others say that no such hierarchy of males exists, and that women prefer more sensitive and caring men. I challenge both camps, and come up with my own analysis.
