A Sense of Self

Lacking a sense of self is a result of losing that inner voice. The honest place in us that we would not only access in order to speak our truth, but also to feel our feelings, acknowledge our needs/wants, defend ourselves, assert ourselves, so on and so forth.

In the same way that we ask "where's my phone?", indicating that it's lost amongst/between/under other objects, so too when we ask "where's my inner voice?", it's lost amongst (internal) objects: The thoughts and feelings of other people, for example, which we carry around in our heads.
