Are you a happy mom?

This is the momtrepreneur life coffee chat. Where we pull back the curtain on life as a work from home mom and homeschool mom. We are rebel moms https://life-unboxed-blog.creator-spring.com/listing/rebel-mom?product=226&variation=5861&size=1368 and there aren't a lot of people out there who have been working from home for a long time. I've been doing it for almost 10 years. So, I want to give you the tools you need to work from home and homeschool confidently.

Are You a Happy Mom—This is a Deep Question
The most common answer to this question is probably sometimes. If we are being honest with ourselves.

This question was asked in one of my mom groups. "What do you say to a homeschool mom who doesn't enjoy it?" I confess, I was annoyed with the question. Enjoyment is not a prerequisite to homeschool. You don't have to enjoy it in order to do it.

This question got me further down the rabbit trail. Should happiness be a barometer or an outcome? Spoiler alert. It should be an outcome not something that we measure everything by. We tend to view things through the lens of does this make me happy.

Happiness is a fleeting feeling. It is momentary. It depends on your circumstance being just right, or just what you imagined. Your circumstances dictate how you feel.

Are You a Happy Mom Homeschooling
Happiness or enjoyment is not required to homeschool. You should actually have a better reason to homeschool than just enjoying it. There are going to be so many days that you won't enjoy it. Homeschooling is really tough. It takes a strong mom to homeschool her kids. It is not for the weak. And that's ok.

If being a happy mom depends on you enjoying homeschooling that is just way too much pressure on your homeschooling day, on your kids, and on you. So now being a happy mom depends on your kids.

Let's get really honest. Kids are the greatest source of joy, but they can also be the greatest source of frustration. They can be these two things at the same time. Sometimes within 30 seconds of each other. My happiness cannot depend on them not frustrating me at the moment.

You should homeschool because it is the best decision for your kids and your family.
