LIVE: Workers’ unions hold strike action in Paris against pension reform

Ruptly is live from Paris on Wednesday, March 15, where thousands of workers have gathered to demonstrate against the government’s proposed pension reforms.

Organised by the trade unions, those from all sectors are expected to take part in the nationwide action.

The government says the plans to increase the retirement age from 62 to 64 are needed to address the deficit in the system caused by an ageing population. The unions claim the protests will continue until the changes are withdrawn.
