Here's an easy project that can yeild some great results. A lot of it depends on the type of wood. It's simple but very functional.

Whats needed:
Small section of seasoned limb or tree
Drill press with vise
Forstner bit smaller than the diameter of the wood. Leave enough of a wall to keep it strong.
Belt sander or other method to remove the bark. Chisel, draw knife etc
Finish of your choice. Stain. polyurethane, oil etc
