Virtua Fighter | Sega Saturn playthrough (JPN) | Real hardware

Virtua Fighter is a 3D fighting video game developed and published by Sega for the Sega Saturn console. It was first released in 1993 and is considered one of the first 3D fighting games ever made. The game features eight playable characters, each with their own unique fighting styles and moves. Players engage in one-on-one battles across various stages, using a combination of punches, kicks, throws, and other martial arts techniques to defeat their opponents.

Review –

I was never a fan of the first Virtua fighter after coming from the days of amazing beat em ups like Street Fighter 2 Turbo and Mortal Kombat 2, and then this turned up as the future of Beat em ups. Where were all the special moves? Where were all the buttons? One punch and one kick? This was severely limited and going back to it today, I thought I would have a new found appreciation since the franchise has been going on for so long and I liked VF5. But no, this is still a pile of turd. 2D beat em ups have aged very well but this is just terrible. No fun at all.
There are hardly any moves and I found that spamming the same moves was the only way I would get through the arcade mode. I had it on easy and probably lost more times than I won.
Graphics look as bad now as they did then. I’m surprised they continued the franchise to become what it is today.
