Barcelona train for Real Madrid game as La Liga serves up another El Clásico

After brushing aside Liverpool with surprising ease in the Champions League, Real Madrid appears to again be reaching its peak form when titles are on the line.

The 6-2 aggregate victory over the English team put Madrid in the final eight of Europe’s elite competition and with the possibility for a treble of titles this season, including the Spanish league and Copa del Rey.

But that feat hinges on producing another big win at Barcelona on Sunday.

Barcelona leads the Spanish league and has opened up a nine-point gap on second-place Madrid.

A loss at Camp Nou would leave Madrid needing a meltdown by its top rival over the remaining weeks to keep its title, while a victory would confirm that the team is hitting its stride when it counts.

The game will be the second of three “clasicos” played in just over a month.

The two Spanish powerhouses will also play on April 5 when Madrid returns to Barcelona in the second game of the Copa del Rey semifinals after the Catalan side won 1-0 in the capital in February.
