So, Eliezer doesn’t know all that, but he does know that this assignment he will agree to is of the utmost importance. This is probably Eliezer, so we will refer to this servant as Eliezer.
Eliezer is granted a waiver to the deal: If he cannot find a woman willing to return to Canaan to marry Isaac, the servant will be released from his oath. Abraham is confident GOD will make this happen.Eliezer arrives in Haran and prays that GOD will provide the young women for Isaac. Before the servant has finished his prayer, Rebekah enters the scene and does exactly as the servant has asked.
Abraham was old and full of years. Scripture often uses this language at the end of a person’s life to set up their final actions. What is somewhat puzzling is that Abraham, however, will not die for another 35 years.
