Is GA not run by republicans? This is just how dirty republicans can be in the state of GA. There have been multiple bills on the house side and senate side to legalize gambling. But they have all failed. In the past they have said they will put it on the ballot but their polling says it will fail.
AJC headline of the day. Fireworks erupt in the Senate committee as sports betting is revived. The committee has attached sports betting on to a bill to call a small town in South GA the Soap Box Derby Capital.
We have a freshman member of the House from Lyons GA with her first bill. She is excited and the town is excited. It all unfolds early Thursday. HB 237. Originally the 3 page bill to name the town the GA soap box derby capital. The committee proposed a 44 page amendment. There is not enough time for everyone to read the bill to pass. The freshman senator asked for her language to be removed from the bill if it were to go to a vote and move out of committee.
