Final Fantasy 4 Ultima (SNES ROM Hack) - Part 27: Superboss Raiden

After felling the mighty Giant of Babil, saving Earth, and beginning our final descent into the Lunar Subterrane, Cecil now meets up once again with the True King of Baron for another superboss fight!

Raiden is similar to Odin in that his ultimate attack is an instant kill against your entire party. But this time he'll unleash it instantly upon starting the battle. To counter it, you must hit him with a lightning attack as he raises his sword in preparation for the attack. If you time it right, he'll say "Agh..." and his ultimate will only do a few hundred damage instead of a few thousand. Just repeat this process until Raiden is dead, which you'll want to happen as quickly as possible because each cycle Raiden will keep getting faster and faster.

Like Odin, Raiden will become a summon for Rydia. His summon works differently from Odin's in that it's never automatically triggered, and it's not a luck-based "instant death to all or nothing" attack. Beating Raiden also offers a new bonus not in the original game. Going back to the Lunar Whale and talking to the king onboard will let Cecil switch back and forth between Paladin and Dark Knight forms!
