Deuteronomy 30-31 | You'll Mess Up and God Will Save You

Deuteronomy 30 begins with Moses proclaiming that when the Israelites return to the Lord and obey his commands, He will restore their fortunes. The chapter also includes instructions for keeping the covenant with the Lord, the choice between life and death, and the blessings and curses that come with obedience or disobedience.

In Deuteronomy 31, Moses is preparing for his death and the transition of leadership to Joshua. He gives a speech to the Israelites, encouraging them to be strong and courageous, just as God had told Joshua earlier. Moses also tells the people that he will not be crossing over the Jordan River with them, and that God will go before them and destroy their enemies.

Moses then writes down the Law and gives it to the Levites to keep in the Ark of the Covenant. This is significant because the Law serves as the foundation for the covenant relationship between God and His people, and it is the basis for their worship, ethical behavior, and daily life. By entrusting the Law to the Levites, Moses is ensuring that the people will continue to follow it after his death.

Finally, God tells Moses that the Israelites will turn away from Him after they enter the Promised Land. He warns them that they will face many troubles and hardships, but that He will ultimately restore them if they turn back to Him. This serves as a prophetic warning to the Israelites, preparing them for the difficult times ahead, but also giving them hope that God will always be there for them, even in their darkest moments.
