All the fuss about raccoon dogs possibly being the key to zoonotic origin is based on data collected from surfaces at the Huanan market in Wuhan (and not from live animals at the start of the pandemic). That right there is a huge problem. And the usual suspects (yep! Same people!) are pushing this very very hard. Definitely over the top, which is why I could only cover this using parody.
