If a depositor chooses to deposit more money than what is insured by the bank, it is their responsibility and not the bank or taxpayer's responsibility to cover any losses. A case where the majority of depositors in Silicon Valley Bank lacked insurance coverage, resulting in a bailout of uninsured depositors, particularly those with venture capital funds in California. The heavy deposits from venture capital-backed firms in California could have contributed to this decision.
