Everyone should take a few minutes this weekend to gather around and listen to the great Stephen Christopher Timmons Edwards recite the Declaration of Independence in this inspiring video.

July 4th and what it means to me:

Being free is the only rational and natural way to live. Think about it, animals, birds, and sea creatures live FREE. This is the natural state of things. People should also be free. Except that some people try to control other people, usually for power and profit. This is called tyranny, which will always grow like a nasty weed if not kept in check.

Sometimes, we have our own personal challenges that threaten our own personal conditions and limit our potential. At times, we need to break free and declare independence from our own personal habits, thoughts, and actions and chart a new course for success that will help us achieve our own personal greatness.

At any rate, freedom to grow and prosper and reach our true potential, (whether as a country, or individually), is curiously not something freely provided to us as humans living on a big rotating rock, and instead must be vigilantly guarded, and at times, must be fought vigorously by standing up for what you believe, whatever the cause may be. May we always fight to protect, truth, justice, freedom, and equality and let this be our guiding light.
