COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT - 1202 CLAIMS ("CMI")

In this video, COPYRIGHT infringement attorney Steve Vondran discusses the DMCA 17 U.S.C. 1202 claims and the recent Stevens v. CoreLogic, Inc case dealing with real estate MLS photographs.

This case deals with real estate photos that were converted to thumbnails, eliminating or altering CMI data on the photo leading to the filing of a federal court lawsuit alleging copyright infringement.

At the end of the day, the Court (both the Southern District and the 9th Circuit) found that there was no violation of the law by CoreLogic and its source code that was alleged to be stripping EXIF information and possibly IPTC metadata.
