What is a MAC address in software piracy cases?

In this video IP & Technology lawyer Steve Vondran discusses what the "MAC ADDRESS" is and how this can show up in software infringement reports from companies like Vero Software.

Many devices such as laptops, PC's, MAC's, printers, servers, tablets, iPhone's etc. come with a MAC ADDRESS baked in. This identifies the machine on your network. When it comes to allegations of using unlicensed software, and piracy allegations, many times a MAC address is used to show what devices the infringing product is located on.
