SOFTWARE COMPLIANCE TIPS

Okay, now that everyone is working from home (meaning your company now has a mobile workforce due to the Covid19 virus (aka the China Virus or "Coronavirus"), the software compliance question of the day becomes, ARE YOU PROPERLY LICENSED TO HAVE YOUR EMPLOYEES OR CONTRACTORS WORK FROM HOME INSTALLING AND USING SOFTWARE LICENSED TO YOUR COMPANY (many times licensed to seats, or limited in some manner how they can be used)? Does your EULA (End User License Agreement) allow you to make mobile and remote uses of software and install it on personal computers for the convenience of your employees?

In this video, Attorney Steve®, the software and technology lawyer, discusses his TOP TWO THINGS to look into as far as making sure your mobile workers are doing the right thing so that you do not get dragged into a software audit or worse, threatened with a copyright infringement action.

Now is the BEST TIME to make sure you have all your software licensing straight, especially with companies going out of business if you are buying a company or its "assets" (or are the seller and do not want the buyer coming back at you for indemnification when they learn you sold them unlicensed software).
