Octopath Traveler 2 (PC) - Part 19: Family Feud (Castti Chapter 2A)

At the end of Chapter 1, Castti finds her next clue to her identity in a diary hidden in her satchel, which directs her to the cities of Sai and Winterbloom. Since we just finished business with Throne in Winterbloom, let's do this part of Castti's Chapter 2 first. This will be marked as Chapter 2A, the Sai Route will be Chapter 2B.

While the people of Canalbrine reviled Castti because of the bad rumors about her group Eir's Apothecaries, the people of Winterbloom instead treat Castti as an old friend. There, she meets the Glenville family matriarch Rosa who has fallen deathly ill from an incurable disease. When she dies, she wants to leave the town of Winterbloom to her daughter Melia. But the law says her heir must be at least 12 years old, but Melia is only 11. So Castti's goal is not necessarily to cure Rosa but just to keep her alive until Melia's 12th birthday.

However, Rosa's nephew Greg is all too eager to seize the town for himself, which leads him to kidnap Melia and hire a group of pirates to try to drive Castti away so Rosa will die before Melia's birthday and she has to leave the town to Greg. You may recognize the boss Plukk's two lackeys as the two pirates who serve as Tressa's first boss fight in the first game, Mikk and Makk. Each of them blocks two of Plukk's weaknesses, and breaking them will unlock said weaknesses. I was not prepared for this chapter to be made up of solely a boss fight, and I got wrecked for most of the fight. Even with three characters at the recommended level, this was still the hardest boss fight so far.
