The innovative, powerful filmmaker and of course, the man behind Star Wars – George Lucas – uses much of his mega fortune on real estate. He and his wife, Mellody Hobson are real estate ballers who have a portfolio of luxury properties easily worth $ 200 Million. Not only does Lucas own the famed Skywalker Ranch, but he also owns a beachfront compound, a mansion in Bel Air, a long-time estate in San Anselmo, and more. We’ll be taking a look at a few of his nicest properties – including the ranch, cause I know you all want to see it. George Walton Lucas Jr. is a film director, producer, screenwriter, and entrepreneur who’s best known for creating the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises. Not to mention, founding Lucasfilm, LucasArts, and Industrial Light & Magic. He was the chairman of Lucasfilm before he sold it to Walt Disney in 2012, and remains one of the most financially successful filmmakers to date. Among his many accomplishments, Lucas’ films are among the 100 highest-grossing movies at the North American box office and considered a figure in the 20th century New Hollywood Movement. After he graduated from the University of Southern California in 1967 his first project wasn’t that successful, but working as a writer-director with the movie American Graffiti sure was. While George’s next film – Star Wars in 1977 had a troubled production it was a surprise hit becoming the highest-grossing film at the time, winning 6 Academy Awards and sparking a cultural phenomenon. The sequels to Star Wars that he produced were also a hit, and with Steven Spielberg, they created the Indiana Jones franchise of films as well. Of course, Lucas returned to directing with the Star Wars prequel trilogy starting in 1999 and releasing the third installment in 2005. These days, Lucas is married to Mellody Hobson, who’s president of a Chicago-based investment firm, and he presides over an estimated $6.4 Billion Dollar fortune.
