Rian Johnson's Star Wars The Last Jedi was a finical success but was critically decreed by a vast majority of the fanbase for lack of continuity and direction after the J.J. Abrahams Force Awakens movie. We saw the likes of Luke Skywalker being reduced to a bitter old man and the destruction of the main villain half way through the "tribology". It was a mess yet still the Kathleen Kennedy led Disney Star Wars continued to say Rian Johnson was going to get his own sequel tribology.
