Dassault Falcon 8X Landing/Departing Gibraltar Airport

Not many airport afford viewing of landing and departure so well as Gibraltar International Airport. I was able to see this beauty land and depart only an hour apart. With The Rock of Gibraltar as the background, the beautiful scenery accompanied by the sounds of the jet engines, the water from the sea, and the warm Mediterranean breeze made this a perfect day for seeing planes!

I love how these planes land on a runway surrounded on all sides by water. This is a must watch to see how close to the water these planes land and take off. There are very few airports in the world like this, that could support commercial airline jets to land and take off under such extreme conditions.

Gibraltar is one of the most dangerous airports in the world because the runway is short, it is surrounded by water on both ends of the runway, an international roadway bisects the runway with cars, bikes and people on foot crossing. The weather caused by the Strait of Gibraltar can lead to brutal crosswinds. The pilots who land here have to be specially qualified. Flights to Gibraltar are currently only from the United Kingdom. Gibraltar International Airport is technically a military airport not a civilian one.
