Pittsburgh East End water Main break!
PITTSBURGH, PA - Residents on the eastern side of Pittsburgh at the corner of North Akein and Penn Ave have been without water since 2pm on Friday, following a water supply line issue. Despite promises from the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) to enlist the help of a contractor to address the issue, it is now noon on a Saturday and no one is actively working on the site.
Residents in the affected area are growing increasingly frustrated as they continue to experience water shortages and disruptions. Many are taking to social media to voice their concerns and to demand action from the PWSA.
According to PWSA officials, they enlisted the help of a contractor on Friday night to assist with repairs to the damaged water supply line. However, residents in the affected area have reported that since the contractor was assigned to the job, the site has been empty aside from a machine on the corner that appears to be siphoning water from a fire hydrant into the sewage system.
The PWSA has not yet issued a statement regarding the lack of activity at the site or the reported water diversion.
Residents and business owners in the affected area are growing increasingly frustrated by the lack of progress on the repairs and the lack of communication from the PWSA. Many are concerned about the safety and well-being of their families and are calling for immediate action to address the issue.
Local schools in the area have been forced to cancel classes due to the lack of water supply, and businesses are suffering from the disruption to their operations.
The PWSA has advised residents and businesses in the affected area to continue to conserve water and limit their water usage until the issue is resolved. They also recommend boiling any water used for drinking, cooking, or cleaning until further notice.
As of now, there is no estimated timeline for when water service will be restored to the affected area. The PWSA has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the lack of progress on the repairs or the reported water diversion.
The affected community is urged to remain patient and to continue to seek updates from the PWSA regarding the status of the repairs. However, as the situation continues to escalate, residents are growing increasingly concerned about the lack of action and accountability from the PWSA.
This is being highly ignored by Pwsa and @WPXI11News so WTFFN had to pick up the slack!
