Joshua 9-11 | They Forgot to Consult the Lord

Joshua 9-11 describes the conquest of the land of Canaan by the Israelites under the leadership of Joshua. In Joshua 9, we see the deception of the Gibeonites, who pretend to be from a distant land and make a treaty with the Israelites to avoid being attacked. However, when Joshua discovers their deception, he spares their lives but makes them slaves.

In Joshua 10, the Israelites fight against several kings who band together to attack Gibeon, and God causes a hailstorm to defeat the enemy. Joshua then goes on to capture several other cities in the region, including Jerusalem, Hebron, and Debir.

In Joshua 11, we see the final conquest of the northern regions of Canaan, as Joshua and the Israelites defeat the armies of several kings in battle. The chapter ends with a summary of the land that has been conquered and the distribution of the spoils among the Israelites. These chapters emphasize the importance of trusting in God's power and presence to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles and achieve victory.
