The suspect in a Nashville school shooting on Monday had prepared a thorough map of the campus, including potential entrance ways, and performed surveillance before killing three pupils and three adults in the latest mass shooting in a nation increasingly unsettled by school violence.

The shooting suspect, who was murdered by police, was a former student at Nashville's Covenant School. Authorities stated the shooter had a rifle, pistol, and handgun. At least two were legitimately obtained in Nashville.
