In this video, we visit with Jesse from Marseille to discuss the upcoming mClassic from the 2019 Portland Retro Gaming Expo.

Marseille has been hard at work to create an amazing HDMI gaming experience, first with their awesome mCable Gaming Edition and now with their latest innovation, the mClassic. Designed to act as an external video processor, the mClassic is a truly amazing piece of technology.

The mClassic started out as a Kickstarter project, and people have absolutely responded to what Marseille is working on. This little dongle builds upon what the mMable started, however, everything is self-contained. There is a female HDMI port on the back, a micro USB port for power, and a button for you to toggle through the various options.

One of the things that I found most interesting is the fact that Marseille really sought to create something that differentiated itself from the mCable, which is itself a great solution. The mClassic has three different modes, including a pass-through mode so you can bypass all the signal processing all together if you so wish. It also has the option of outputting 1440p, where the mCable tops out at 1080p. If your monitor or television can support this resolution, it will look a little bit sharper and more vibrant.

The good news is that the mClassic is closer than ever to hitting the streets. They actually had a small supply that they were selling at the show. Backorders exceeded their expectations, so if you want one sooner than later I highly recommend you pre-order one. You can do so through the Marseille website, CastleMania Games, or anywhere that carries Marseille products.

I really dig my mCable, and after seeing it in action for myself I'm going to have to pick up an mClassic. It really does make your games look better on modern flat-panel TVs, unfortunately, it really is something you need to see in person to get the full force of what it's doing. YouTube is great for a lot of things, unfortunately, YouTube also compression also makes videos look worse. Thanks to Jesse from Marseille for spending some time with me at the show.
