Should You Buy The Mumba Blade Series Grip Case for the Nintendo Switch Lite
In this video, we unbox and test out the Mumba Blade Series TPU Grip Case designed to fit and protect your Nintendo Switch Lite.
I have to admit, I've been using my, erm, Ginger's Nintendo Switch Lite more than I ever anticipated. It's really a great handheld, has exceptional battery life, and has been a nice surprise to me. Its smaller form factor, while making it more portable, also makes it a little challenging to hold onto. The folks at Mumba reached out to us recently and asked if we'd like to take a look at their new Blade Series TPU Grip Case for the Switch Lite, and the results are what you see here.
The Blade Grip Case is available in two colors, the black as you see here, and a turquoise version to match the color of the Switch Lite. The case is made from frim TPU, similar to many cellphone cases, and has some interesting design elements incorporated into it. For one, the clear back is super cool. It gives the illusion that the back is exposed, allowing you to show off what color Switch Lite you're rocking, but the fact it's actually protected by the Blade case is pretty sweet. The molded-in grips also provide a positive area to hold the system by, without being too large or bulbous, like Wes from Gaming Off the Grid's head. Have you seen the size of that thing? It's YUGE!
One of the things I really like about the Blade Grip case is the way the case is molded around the triggers. The design gives the player full access to the triggers without having to reach over or through a molded part of the case. This really makes it easy to access those triggers without having to reach through the case as it were.
I am sorry to have to report that owing to the thickness of the case itself you cannot use the Adjustable Switch Charging Stand with the Mumba Blade Case. The material is pretty thick, which prevents the USB-C port from even coming close to reaching to charging port. Thankfully, it is super-easy to remove the Switch Lite from the Blade Grip Case, so if you want to charge using the adjustable charging stand it's pretty easy.
Why It RoX:
- Budget Friendly
- Available in Black and Turquoise
- Easy to install and remove
- Extremely Comfortable
- Provides very good protection to the sides and back of your Switch Lite
- Cool design with the transparent back
What Could Be Improved?
- No Yellow?
- Not compatible with Adjustable Charge Dock
- Volume "buttons" a bit stiff out of the box
- No Cartridge storage like other cases have
Should You Buy One?
This is really a nice case for the Switch Lite, definitely something you should consider. Where this one excels over something like the Hyperkin Grip Case is the way the case is molded around the L/R triggers; the Hyperkin Grip Cases all had that sharp portion around where the mold was pulled, where the Mumba Case here doesn't have that issue. On the flip side the Hyperkin Grip Case also has storage for 2 games, witch the Mumba Case lacks. You also have the option of getting the case in yellow for the Hyperkin Grip Case, where the Mumba Blade Grip Case is only available in Black and Turquoise. There's also the slight confusing message that there's a price difference on Amazon between the two colors. All that being said, this is a very comfortable to use, well-designed grip case that does exactly as advertised in protecting your Switch Lite and providing a more secure grip on it as you play.
