Retro Video Game Hunting at NB Gaming in Lafyette Indiana
In this video, we visit NB Games in Lafayette, Indiana and do some game hunting.
I know just recently we got back from the Missouri Game Con, however, there are always more games to be added to the collection. I recently had to take a day trip for work about 2 hours to the east of Champaign to Lafayette Indiana. On my way back I checked the GPS to see if there were any retro game stores in the area. Thankfully there was, NB Games, and it was less than two miles from where I was working for the day.
Upon walking in the store, you are greeted with a giant cardboard cutout Brock Lesnar. Just to the side of that, there is a showcase with some pretty cool collectible systems inside, a Super NES advantage, and more. I started to look around to see if there's anything that I'd be interested in picking up, and there definitely was. One piece of advice for those looking to film game hunting, make sure you ask permission before you do so. Most stores will not mind as it is promotion for their location, but it's also a common courtesy that you should extend.
I was blown away by the number of PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games that they had on hand. The size of the collection was very big. The depth of the overall collection that they had in the store to was also very good. They had cartridges for the Commodore 64, ColecoVision, Atari 2600, and of course Nintendo and Sega consoles. Moving forward they also had stuff for modern consoles including the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
One item that caught my eye was a copy of SNK VS Street Fighter for the Dreamcast. I didn't notice right away but it was an import. I did some searching on my phone while in the store because I honestly didn't remember if the Dreamcast was region locked or not. as many of you probably know, the Dreamcast is region modded, however, you can burn a bios disk to help it boot into any region. I didn't want to do this, so I passed it up.
I did take advantage of the fact that they had a Dreamcast microphone on hand, along with a very clean looking copy of Top Gun 2. I'm looking forward to testing out the Dreamcast microphone with some upcoming controllers coming out, you'll see more about these soon, and Top Gun 2 is just a fun game.
I do want to thank the folks with NB Games for being extremely kind and hospitable. They were excited to hear that I wanted to feature their store and one of our videos and also gave us some great deals. The next time I am in the area for work, I am definitely making another stop.
