How To Fix Charging Issues when Using the Nyko Thin Case for the Nintendo Switch

In this video, we give some installation tips and tricks for the Nyko thin case for the Nintendo Switch to ensure your switch charges with the case installed.

Since our initial review of The Nyko thin case for the Nintendo switch, one common complaint that I have noticed has been people indicating that they cannot charge their system when the case is installed. While I have not experienced this for myself, I have been able to duplicate it.

The Nyko thin case is just that, a very thin case, as such you can actually use it in the stock Nintendo dock and not have to install and remove it whenever you go portable. Due to it being so thin, Nyko had to get creative when it came to how the front and rear halves of the cases snap together. And that design is what can cause charging issues.

See, the case itself is SUPER thin, and while simple in design can be finicky to install. You'll need to not only snap the case together but you snap the tabs in on the system to make it lock into place. To ensure you have installed the case properly run your finger across the seam; if there's a high spot as you move your finger front-to-back across the seam you need to work to get things snapped together.

With a little attention to detail, you should be able to get your Nyko thin case on and be able to charge without any issue. One issue that does still exist, however, is that many third-party docks are not compatible with the Thin Switch Case. I have never been able to get my Switch to charge with the thin case installed when using an Insignia or CharJenPro SWITCHub docks, however, it does work just fine with Nike ozone doc and of course the CharJenPro Stingray.

If you take a few extra minutes and pay close attention during the installation of the case on your Switch, you should not have any troubles charging your Switch in the Nyko Thin case. Make sure the tabs are snapped together properly and completely and you shouldn't have any issues. If it won't charge, then you need to double-check your installation.
