Comprehensive Nintendo Switch Dock Comparison Shootout - What is the Best Dock for Your Switch

In this episode we compare the performance of 4 different docks for the Nintendo Switch to see what is the best.

The Nintendo Switch has become the fastest selling home video game system in the US of all time, and with that many consoles out there accessory manufacturers are hopping on board to support the platform with a variety of devices. One accessory that almost everyone wants is either a second or more portable dock, that way they can hook their Switch up to more than one TV or take it with them on the go and hook it up anywhere.

There are a lot of different options out there, all at different feature and price points. We took 4 docks we've recently tested here on the channel and compared them side-by-side to see if there was a graphical and performance difference between them. The results were interesting, for sure.

The Winner - Nyko Portable Switch Dock
Strengths:
- Small size
- includes everything
- Has all the same ports as stock
- Most consistent video performance
- Good price

Drawbacks:
- Early quality issues (seems to be fixed)
- Firmware update needed to address wake from sleep issue (Already Released)
- Not much protection for the USB-C plug when in a backpack

Runner-Up
CharJenPro SWITCHUB
Strengths:
- Smallest Dock I've seen thus far
- Excellent video quality, perhaps the best out of all 4 docks
- Has all the same ports as stock
- Button to toggle from TV to Desktop mode

Drawbacks:
- Doesn't include a power supply
- Priced a little high
- Not a household name (They're working on changing that!)

2nd Runner-Up
OEM Nintendo Dock
Strengths:
- Being from Nintendo you know it's going to work
- Includes Everything
- Identical performance to what the Switch comes with

Drawbacks:
- WAY too expensive!
- Absolutely massive and not very portable
- Can scratch up your Switch if not careful inserting it

3rd Runner Up
Insignia Switch Dock
Strengths:
- Lowest price of the bunch
- Includes power supply and HDMI cable
- Incorporates protection for the USB-C port into design

Drawbacks:
- Worst video output of all 4 consistently
- Only 1 USB port
- Uninspired Design
