Matt Taibbi Testifies on the Twitter Files

Journalist Matt Taibbi testified before the congresssinal House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government Thursday, March 9th.

According to his testimony, following a lead on Twitter censorship during the 2020 election cycle, he opened Pandora's box in what has been dubbed the Twitter Files.

Not only was Twitter suppressing political speech, they were keeping lists of users and providing user data to federal agencies and non-profit watchdog groups, and even allowing agencies like the FBI and DHS to monitor and spy on users without their knowledge. In fact, he found Google, Facebook and other social media organizations were engaged in the same kinds of clandestine relationships with Federal agencies.

Of course, house democrats' focus was not on the fact Twitter was engaged in domestic espionage, censorship and election meddling, but how Taibbi got a hold of the information. Virgin Islands Rep. Stacey Plaskett(D), referred to Taibbi, who has written for a number of publications, including Rolling Stone, won two awards for journalism, written ten books, four of which are NY Times bestsellers, and edits an online publication, as a "so-called journalist."

Ironically, the day he testified before congress on the weaponization of the federal government, IRS agents visited his home and left a letter informing him his 2018 and 2020 returns were rejected, years after being accepted, and he is due money back. There are no coincidences.
