BARGE WITH 1400 METRIC TONS OF TOXIC METHANOL IS SUBMERGED AFTER BREAKING LOOSE FROM A TUG TOW

A tug was towing 11 barges of which 10 broke free. Seven of the 10 have been captured, 2 remain pinned up against a dam and one near the dam is taking on water and submerged in water. As of right now the methanol has not leaked into the water but it remains a danger, especially to the recovery team because it is explosive.
