What You NEED to Know About Rx Fire and the Law!

Jesse Kreye, Assistance Reasearch Professor at Penn State University speaking at the Forest Landowners Conference gave a talk on using prescribed fire in PA and the legal ramifications of current liability law.
The problem we are facing is that, although a law was passed protecting landowners from liability, the law also makes it impossible to be qualified to burn boss a fire in the state. So, there is still no progress in getting fire onto private forest lands.
Talk to your state legislator and try to get some momentum going in the governement to change the law and provide training for landowners and Foresters to become qualified to burn and to make insurance available to professionals and landowners.
